  • What is the maximum health cover with this health insurance? Is there a cap?
This is a common question from our clients, because they are used to expecting a cap from health insurers. There IS NO MAXIMUM HEALTH COVER and yes, it exceeds most health insurance products on the market. This health insurance does not put a cap on the cost of patient treatments, so you will always be covered without interruption, regardless of the cost. This cover is closely modelled on the original National Health Service philosophy, where your health cover is comprehensive and limitless, and the attention you receive is determined by the criteria of the doctors who treat you, not by the cost of the services. There is no cap or maximum amount after which you lose your cover. If you fall ill, you will have access to all the diagnostics, treatments, and medical attention you need. Regardless of how expensive these might turn out to be, this health insurance will always cover them.
  • Is this cover equivalent to that of the Spanish Healthcare System?
Yes, but with faster access to care (no waiting lists) as well as the typical luxuries you might expect from private healthcare (such as a private hospital room with en-suite bathroom if you are hospitalised), the option of online appointments and even home visits, if required. Not only does this health insurance provider offer health insurance, it also owns the largest network of private health facilities across Spain, which is another distinct benefit of choosing this health cover above other well known Spanish health insurers.
  • Is this health insurance cover valid for a Spanish Visa?
Yes! This cover has been running for 3 years and has a 100% success rate with Spanish Embassies and consulates, having helped thousands of our clients with their Spanish visas already. As required by the Spanish government, the service is paid in advance, has no copays, no wait period, no cover limit and repatriation in case of serious illness or death. It can also be used for residency applications. You will usually receive all the documentation you need within 24 working hours following receipt of payment by email. Please note this excludes weekends and Spanish bank holidays. If your visa is rejected, you will be able to request a refund for the entire amount paid, by providing proof (Showing the rejection letter issued by the Spanish Consulate). A de-registration fee equivalent to 100 euros will be charged to cover the administrative costs.

In order to meet Spain's visa and residency criteria, this health insurance is without excess and without co-payments or deductibles.
  • How quickly can I access the documentation I need for my visa or residency appointment?
Once you have completed your online application and made the payment, we will email you your proof of payment and health certificate within 24 working hours. Please check your spam emails and make sure our info@healthinsiderspain.com email is classified as safe to appear in your inbox. Please beware that payments by bank transfer take longer than by card and your bank may take a commission or transfer fee. If the amount received is not complete, this will delay the process.
  • How do I apply for this health cover?
Please click on your age group on the home page and you will be shown the price, the application form and your payment options. If you are experiencing any problems, please email us at info@halthinsiderspain.com. Homepage: Home | Health Insider Spain.
  • Can you help me access the health cover documentation I need for my visa or residency?
Yes! We will send you proof of full payment and your health insurance certificate within 24 working hours following receipt of your application form and full payment. Our customer care team specialises in health insurance for international citizens. We are here to help make the process easier for you. Having listened to our customers we are also working on a process to help you access health certificates online.
  • Where do I make my bank transfer payment to?
Please make sure when making a payment, that you have completed your online application form so that we can match the payment and prepare your health certificate and proof of payment on time. The questionnaire will ask you to state the name of the person paying to assist us with the matching process. If you would like to be extra careful, you are welcome to email us at info@healthinsiderspain.com. Bank : Wise Pay by transfer to: WISE, Avenue Louise 54, Room S52, Brussels, 1050 Belgium Account: Health Insider Spain is a trading name under Doudman Ltd. IBAN: BE66 9675 7431 5643 BIC: TRWIBEB1XXX
  • Can someone else pay for my health insurance?
Yes, of course. You will be asked to indicate the name of the person the payments is made by in your online application form. This is to allow us to find and cross reference the payment with your application. If the payment is being made by card, we prompt the payer to include the passport number of the to-be policyholder.
  • I don't have an address in Spain yet, what should I write in the application form?
If you do not have a home address in Spain yet, you can use the address of a friend, an employer, or the main office at the academic institution where you may be working/studying. This address is the place your health insurance membership card will be delivered to. Alternatively, just leave this section blank. We can provide you with a temporary address (one of our clinics in the area where you will be staying). You can modify this address anytime by contacting our customer care. You can automatically access and use your digital card with your documentation until you receive a duplicate card when you order it via the customer care team.
  • Do you have the flexibility of choosing the exact duration of your health insurance cover?
Yes! This is one of the fantastic features of this cover - if you are staying for 3 months, you can arrange cover for 3 months, if you want to stay for 12 months, we can arrange this too. We currently offer a maximum of 18 months of cover but embassies usually (but not always) require your first 12 months of cover. You can extend your cover by contact us and arranging an extension 1 month before the end of your existing cover. We can still cover you if you haven't done this in time, you would just have a new policy. You can extend your cover by whichever months you would prefer (up to 18 months). Otherwise, your cover automatically ends on your agreed end date - you don’t have to do anything else. We cover full months and so your cover would start at the beginning of the month you arrive and cover you until the end of the last month you have paid for, so please bear this in mind when choosing your travel dates and applying for cover.
  • Do I need to complete a health questionnaire and pass a health assessment to be accepted by the health insurer?
No. The health insurance options provided by Health Insider Spain do not require you to complete any health questionnaires or assessments by the health insurer. We also provide you with a health insurance certificate within 24 working hours from payment. As you can see on the home page, health insurance prices vary and correspond to people by age groups.
  • What are my payment options?
When you click on your age group, you will be presented with the price, a link to the application form and two payment options : bank transfer or online card payment. Top tips: 1. card payments tend to be more expensive because online card processing companies add on further fees but if you are in a rush, they are the fastest way to pay (unless you have a Wise account). Please be aware that your bank or the card processing company could charge you a fee for currency conversion. 2. bank transfers can take several days (unless you have a Wise account) but you are likely to face fewer charges, although your bank may take a commission. Please note that sometimes, your bank's commission charges can reduce the final payout to us and we will not be able to send you your certificate until we receive full payment. This may be something you can check with your bank to avoid delays.
  • Do I have to pay in advance for my whole travel period?
If you need a visa, it is a requirement of the Spanish government that you pay for your whole trip in advance or at least the first 12 months. If you are from an EU country, you can pay in advance for a minimum of 2 months and then pay as you go, extending by 1, 2, 3 or more months at a time.

This is a common question from our clients, because they are used to expecting a cap from health insurers. • Are there any limits on medication or medical treatment cover?

You can send us this document by email so we can help you prepare your response.

Yes, you can pay by card through the website or arrange a bank transfer. If you have very little time left for your visa appointment, please consider paying by card. Card payments are more expensive because of the card processing company fee and your bank or the card processing company may apply a currency conversion fee. You will receive your health insurance certificate and proof of payment within 24 working hours of receiving your full payment. Please make sure you have completed the application form, we need to match the payment with the right client. You will be asked what the name of the payee is so that we can trace the payment and if you pay by card we request the passport number of the would-be policy holder. If you are paying by bank transfer, beware that your bank may take a commission for any currency conversions or transfers and this might mean that the payment that reaches us is not complete. This will likely delay you receiving the documentation that you need. If you come from a country that struggles with the payment options we have offered you, please email us to let us know what payment options would be preferrable. You can break up payments if there is a payout limit, as long as we receive the full payment so that we can register you and send you the documentation you need for your visa or residency.
